Just meters from the shore of the Seil Sound, Seil Chalet is ideally located close to Balvicar on the Isle of Seil. Accessed via the famous 'Bridge over the Atlantic' and only 15 miles south of Oban.

Balvicar is an excellent base from which to explore the islands of Luing and Easdale. The village has a licenced shop with post office, there is a nine golf course and the nearest public house is the Tigh An Truish at Clachan.

There are two pubs on the island which offer a wide range of freshly prepared dishes.
The Island also has its won nine hole golf course.
The area is one of the most attractive parts of the West of Scotland and offers a wealth of activities for outdoor enthusiasts. It is perfect for those wanting to enjoy a rural holiday, walking trails, boat trips,kayakiing, canoeing and fishing.
The nearby islands of Luing and Easdale provide a variety of interests. Easdale is a picturesque conservation area with several craft shops.Luing can be reached by a short ferry trip across the fast tidal stream.
Oban, some 15 miles to the north boasts many shops, restaurants, public houses, hotels and banks. There is a tourist Infomation centre near the sea front. Oban is also the base for many of the Caledonian MacBrayne ferries to the inner islands including Mull, Tiree, Coll and Colonsay and to the Outer Islands.
For the active, Oban also offers a 18 golf course and leisure centre. The leisure centre has two swimming pools complete with water flume, tennis courts and a climbing wall. Oban Zoo and Rare Breeds Farm are popular with younger visitors and the Sealife Centre just north of Oban offers a fascinating insight into the local marine environment, including close up encounters with seals, otters and seahorse
Oban also has its own distillery which offers guided tours through the production process including the wee dram at the finish!! A trip up McCaig's tower rewards the climber with spectacular views across the islands and surrounding area.
The islands within the area are steeped in history and bear the remains of previous civilisations and habitations. Many are now uninhabited and are ideal for exploring. The Gulf of Corryvreckan which is thought to be the largest whirlpool in Europe, lies south west between the islands of Scarba and Jura.

Sea Safari
A sea safari departs from the southern tip of Seil. This is a popular high speed rib boat trip to Corryvreckan which one of the largest whirlpools in the world, and it is not unusual to see dolphins porpoises and eagles.
An all year round marina and has been established at Croabn Haven, some 19 miles south of Isle of Seil, which has a complete range of services with all boats being berthed on pontoons. There is also a well estabished boat yard in Balvicar
Further south within Kilmartin Glen are the remains of Neolithic civilisation including many cairns and standing stones, the story of which is imaginatively told at the award winning museum in Kilmartin.
